Specialist Pelvic Health Physio

Debbie Dillon is a highly experienced physiotherapist, who has worked in the area of male and female pelvic health since 2002.
After a 7 year career in nursing Debbie retrained to become a physiotherapist. She opted to take an elective in Women’s Health and it was during this training that she became increasingly interested in improving pelvic health. She has extensive experience working both within the NHS and the private sector for the last 18 years.

Debbie is passionate about providing clients with the tools they need to look after their own health, and educating them to feel equipped and empowered to improve their quality of life. Her philosophy is that practicing prevention is the key to long term health benefits. She strongly believes that it is possible to lead a fulfilling and enjoyable life if you have the tools to achieve self-care.

Debbie offers bespoke physiotherapy programmes for a range of conditions including:

  • pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy and post-delivery
  • rectus diastasis abdominis (tummy gap)
  • urinary incontinence
  • pelvic organ prolapse
  • pre- and post-gynaecological surgery
  • Male and female pelvic pain – including CPPS , prostatitis and vulvodynia
  • bowel issues and bowel cancer
  • sexual dysfunction/ painful sex
  • pre- and post-prostate surgery
  • coccydynia
  • children with bowel and urinary issues

Debbie is also fully trained to deliver acupuncture and can use this as an adjunct to any of her treatments, including the management of pelvic and low back pain in pregnancy.

Debbie is one of a few specialist practitioners in the South West to offer a “Mummy MOT®”. These are suitable for any woman following childbirth, and can be carried out at any time. A new mother can attend a Mummy MOT® as early as 6 weeks post-delivery. The assessment focuses on pelvic floor and lower back function, a tummy gap assessment, breathing and posture. Any mother would benefit from having the assessment. Debbie is very committed to the specialist care of new mothers and this is a key area to her practice. Debbie’s other expert interest is treating both male and female coccyx and pelvic pain. A growing part of her clinical caseload is men’s pelvic health as some patients have found there is limited provision for men.

Debbie is always seeking to increase her knowledge and skills and she continuously keeps up to date with changes in techniques and research advances, through frequent course attendance. Debbie has a Diploma in Psycho-Sexual Medicine with the Institute of Psychosexual medicine and is currently continuing her studies in this area.

In her free time Debbie loves the great outdoors and is an avid support of Munster Rugby Club.
